Vincent was born on the 1/2/13 at 29 weeks gestation, he weighed a tiny 1lb 9oz (720g). He was very poorly and had to be ventilated for 6 weeks, his breathing support slowly progressed and he made it to vapotherm, he had lots of infections and virus's but he kept on fighting! His weight slowly but surely gained and he was eventually put in a cot, months kept passing by and he was up and about playing with his toys and watching all the lovely nurses run around after him, he enjoyed listening to his story and trying to touch all the characters in the book, and favourite of all was his bath time, everyday at 8pm hed splash about for ages then have a cuddle and go off to sleep. He loved his comfort so he always had a dummy and his little teddy blanket, and loved to be kissed and have raspberries blown on is neck. He had a lovely character and loved lots of attention, you could never get him to crack a smile though, he'd look at you so serious like you were stupid! But all these things make up Vincent his amazing, loving character! We even started to ween him onto solids, only some days did he choose to eat it though, hed keep his mouth shut tight and turn away from the spoon, then other days he really enjoyed it, Vincent was on and off milk too, some times he'd be on big amounts then other times he'd refuse, but either way he'd kick up a big fuss to get it, no warning to say he was getting hungry, he'd just shout at you angrily like we'd starved him! Vincent made it to August when we celebrated his 6 months birthday on the 1/8/13, we had our usual day, toys, cuddles, and bath time, but the nurses had also treat him to a birthday boy badge, banner and birthday cake, he loved it! He couldn't stop eating the cake! A week or so after celebrating Vincent's birthday his oxygen slowly started to rise and within days he reached 100% and he wasnt his usual self. Vincent sadly left with the angels on 10/8/13 and weighed 10lb 3oz. We can say that we were so lucky to have spent such a hard but amazing time with him, and as bad as the year started and ended I wouldn't change anything in the middle!! It was in its own wierd way the perfect year! We love you and miss you Vincent forever and always our beautiful little butterfly x x x x x
